I’ve been doing graphic design for 10 years. I love it almost as much as I love taking photos. Any chance I get to create things the way I see them and tell my visual stories, I jump at it / click at it / snap at it.
One of the huge differences between design and photography (from a business sense) is repeat customers. In design, if you do a good job for someone, the chances are, they’ll probably need some more work done in future. Boom, you’re in.
But in photography, people don’t really need ‘that’ many photographs taken. One or two photo shoots is about all anyone will have. The quest for new work and new faces is continuous.
So when Tenille asked me to do some family portraits for her growing family as a gift for her mum’s birthday. I was so happy. You see, I took Tenille and Nat’s newborn photos when little Flynn was 11 weeks old (you can see those pictures here).
It means Tenille wanted a special shoot of personal photographs for her mum to cherish and they wanted me to document it for them again. I think that’s about as good as it gets in the photo business.
We had a really fun, relaxed afternoon in the park. There was lots of laughter. The Rodie’s are fun family with honest and wonderful connections together. It makes my job of capturing those emotions so much easier. We didn’t need to force a single shot, it was organic. It was perfect!
Thanks for letting me take photos of your lovely family guys x
